Actitud hacia la ciencia en alumnos ecuatorianos de Educación Básica Superior y Bachillerato

Resumen

La educación STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) ha tenido un progresivo crecimiento en una sociedad digital que requiere fuerza laboral con marcadas habilidades tecnológicas y científicas. Este estudio, con enfoque cuantitativo, tiene como objetivo analizar la actitud ante la ciencia y los factores que intervienen en la actitud STEM en estudiantes de Educación Básica Superior y Bachillerato ecuatorianos. De una población de 260 estudiantes se extrajo una muestra no probabilística de 136 estudiantes entre 11 y 18 años, voluntarios para responder el cuestionario SSAQ que analiza edad, género y tipo de escuela como factores asociados a la actitud. Los resultados muestran que la dimensión Disfrute del aprendizaje de la ciencia tiene media de 3.525 y desviación estándar de 0.503, seguida de la Importancia dada a la ciencia, cuya media es 3.265 y desviación estándar 0.694. Respecto a los factores asociados, la edad, calculada con coeficiente Rho de Spearman (Rho = -0.345. Sig.- 0.345; p < 0.01) evidencia una relación inversa. En conclusión, existe una actitud positiva hacia la ciencia en los estudiantes analizados, lo que resulta favorable en función de poder impulsar la educación en ciencias como una necesidad apremiante en la formación de las nuevas generaciones.
