Lexicon of violence in the centers of interest: drug trafficking, indigenism, and politics among students from Morelia
Abstract
This paper presents a quantitative and qualitative comparative study of a corpus of lexical units related to violence in students of the sixth year of primary, third year of secondary school and third year of high school of public and private schools in the city of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. The words that make up this type of text are the result of research on lexical availability based on the centers of interest: drug trafficking, indigenism and politics. The collected corpus allows to infer the conceptions and points of view of the collective imaginary of this sample of students on the problem of violence that today lives in Mexico. A comparative study of the lexical corpus used led to the conclusion that there were no significant differences between the different subsystems of education. This research shows that there is a similarity in certain words in the interest centers of indigenism and drug trafficking. The work done from semantics and sociolinguistics can contribute to different approaches and debates on violence from different implications social, economic, political and cultural development, which is one of the great challenges of the 21st century.
