About the Journal

Historical Overview

Founded in 2011, Interacción y Perspectiva emerged as an academic initiative of the Center for Social Work Research at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the University of Zulia. Its creation responded to the urgent need to consolidate a space for critical thinking and scientific dissemination for social work in Venezuela and Latin America. Over more than a decade of uninterrupted history, the journal has evolved from a local research bulletin to a quarterly electronic publication, peer-reviewed under a double-blind system, establishing itself as a benchmark for epistemological and methodological debate in the region.

Editorial Approach

The journal defines itself as a pluralistic and transdisciplinary space dedicated to reflection on social praxis. Our approach prioritizes the analysis of the dynamics of human interaction and the diverse theoretical perspectives that permeate contemporary social reality. We maintain a firm commitment to the democratization of knowledge through an Open Access policy, promoting open science that contributes to social transformation and the strengthening of public ethics.

Scope and Objectives

The scope of Interacción y Perspectiva transcends the boundaries of strictly professional social work to become part of the dialogue of the social sciences as a whole.

Our fundamental objectives are:

  • To disseminate original research findings, critical essays, and theoretical reviews that contribute significant value to the global scientific community.
  • To promote interdisciplinarity as a unifying force, fostering epistemological dialogue and methodological convergence for a comprehensive approach to social realities.
  • To guarantee academic excellence through rigorous peer review processes, ensuring the quality, originality, and social relevance of each contribution.
  • To serve as a platform for the global exchange of knowledge, connecting local researchers with international academic networks.

Official Statement

Adjustment of frequency and editorial transition

Interaction and Perspective. Journal of Social Work

Date of issue: March 2026

The Editorial Committee of Interaction and Perspective. Journal of Social Work, in its commitment to the continuous improvement of scientific management processes and the optimization of the visibility of its academic output, informs the community of researchers, evaluators, and indexing systems about the evolution of its publication frequency.

  1. Background and transition phase (2024-2025)

During the 2024 and 2025 fiscal periods, the journal underwent a process of technical and editorial adjustment to respond to the demand for manuscript flow. As a result of this adaptation process, the frequency of publication underwent the following changes:

Year 2024. It began with a biannual frequency (Issue 1), transitioning to a quarterly frequency by the end of the year (Issues 2 and 3).

Year 2025.  No. 1 corresponded to the first quarter (January-March) and No. 2 to the second quarter (April-June). Issue No. 3 covered the second half of the year (July-December); this adjustment optimized editorial management times and ensured the publication of all articles that successfully completed the evaluation process at the end of the 2025 cycle.

This transition stage has been documented in our metadata to ensure the traceability and integrity of bibliographic records in international databases.

  1. Definition of the New Frequency (Starting in 2026)

With the aim of stabilizing the peer review process and ensuring timely publication, the journal Interacción y Perspectiva officially declares that, starting with Volume 16 (2026), it will adopt a quarterly publication schedule.

The publication schedule is established as follows:

  • Issue 1 (January–April). Publication planned for January.
  • Issue 2 (May–August). Publication planned for May.
  • Issue 3 (September–December). Publication planned for September.
  1. Commitment to Quality

This change is part of an institutional strengthening strategy that seeks to offer more efficient response times to authors, while maintaining rigorous double-blind peer review and complying with the metadata and DOI standards required by the most influential indexes.

Sincerely,

The Editorial Committee Interacción y Perspectiva. Revista de Trabajo Social
