Abstract

The academic integration of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in university settings poses complex challenges. This study underscores the importance of addressing these complexities to foster an inclusive and supportive university environment for all students. This documentary-style study describes the epistemological foundations of this disorder and its psychoeducational intervention methodology. It examines the fundamental challen ges, from adapting educational programs to training university staff to meet the specific needs of these students. It highlights controversies surrounding assessment methods, curricular adaptations, and effective social inclusion. It argues that interdisciplinary collaboration, the implementation of personalized support strategies, and increased awareness are crucial to ensuring equal opportunities in higher education. Finally, it is necessary to create conditions in the university context for individuals with high-functioning ASD

 Licenciada en Educación Preescolar egresada de la Facultad de Humanidades y en Educación de la Universidad del Zulia. Es Doctora Egresada de la Universidad de Córdoba España. En la actualidad es Directora de la Escuela de Educación adscrita al Departamento de Educación Inicial de dicha casa de Estudios como Personal Docente y de Investigación
