Optimism as a driver of psychological well-being
Abstract
This article was oriented to explore the degree of participation of optimism in people's lives. From the emergence of positive psychology, its importance is recognized, supported by results of studies in various areas. On the personal level of the individual, it has a direct impact on subjective well-being, which is considered as the tendency of the being to experience life in a pleasant way. The documentary review carried out, to recognize the value of optimism as a strength, named after Seligman (1999), is verified in the results of research in the area of medicine, where its practice in terminal patients was studied, indicating that its influence He managed to improve his mood and increase his life expectancy. Also, in the organizational area, Luthans (2008), creator of Psychological Capital (Capsi) in organizations includes optimism, as one of the four capacities of Positive Organizational Behavior (COP), which influences job performance and staff motivation. .
