Cuestiones Políticas Journal
- Purpose and Scope
The journal Cuestiones Políticas, as a scientific publication affiliated with the School of Law and Political Science of the University of Zulia, recognizes that excellence in legal and political science research is inseparable from a plurality of voices. We are committed to dismantling the systemic barriers that limit the participation of groups historically underrepresented in academic discourse.
- Composition of the Editorial Board and Scientific Committee
In accordance with international recommendations, the journal guarantees:
- Institutional Balance: The Editorial Board will maintain a representation of members from outside the publishing institution (LUZ) of over 65%, avoiding parochialism and fostering global exchange.
- Parity and Representation: Gender parity and the inclusión o scholars from diverse geographical regions will be actively promoted, with special emphasis on researchers from the Global South and ethnic or social minorities.
- Merit and Renewal: Members are selected based on their track record and ethical commitment, ensuring periodic rotation that allows for the introduction of new perspectives.
- Inclusion in Authorship and Content
- Diverse Epistemologies: Political Issues encourages the submission of manuscripts that address issues of gender, human rights, minorities, decoloniality, and social justice, using both traditional and disruptive methodologies.
- Inclusive Language: Authors are encouraged to use language that avoids biases related to gender, race, sexual orientation, or disability, while maintaining academic rigor and clarity in legal and political discourse.
- Citation Equity: We encourage authors to review their reference lists to ensure the inclusion of works produced by women and scholars from institutions outside hegemonic centers of power.
- Peer Review Process
- Unconscious Bias: We train our reviewers to identify cognitive biases during the evaluation process. The quality of the scientific argument must take precedence over the author’s affiliation or geographic origin.
- Reviewer Database: We seek to continuously expand our pool of reviewers to include young researchers and experts from diverse regions of the world.
- Digital Accessibility (SciELO Criteria)
To ensure that science is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities:
- Multi-format: The journal publishes in PDF, HTML, and XML, facilitating the use of screen readers and adaptability across various devices.
- Open Access: We maintain a Diamond Open Access policy (no costs for authors or readers), eliminating economic barriers to the production and consumption of knowledge.
- Transparency and Ethics (CRediT Taxonomy)
We adopt the CRediT taxonomy to fairly recognize each author’s contribution to the research process, avoiding practices of “ghost authorship” or “gift authorship,” and ensuring that credit is given to those who actually performed the work.
